ABOUT OUR CLASSES
One of the reasons I love Art so much is because it so flexible and concrete at the same time.
The Elements and Principles are present in successful art of every medium. When we look at Art, its purpose can be whittled down to two branches: Communication and Aesthetics.
In our classes, we will explore the art in the sense of a Academic subject with goals and rules,
as well as as a hobby for pure enjoyment.
My goal as a teacher is to be a guide who introduces tools, techniques and challenges. I want students to develop and explore personal styles while still expanding their "toolbox" of abilities. Our art will have grades associated with each piece based on elements, principles and assignment specific criteria.
Since what is "good art" or "bad art" is subjective, I will not be grading pieces based on that.
I believe everyone is effected by art and therefore have the right
to be exposed to, create, study and view it.
